About the Department

Bachelor of Education or B. Ed. Department of Gobardanga Hindu College started it's journey on and from 1st July 1962. Then the College, as well as the Department, was affiliated with University of Calcutta. In the year 2008, when new University namely West Bengal State University established, the entire college along with other colleges of North 24 Pargana District, came under the jurisdiction of this new University. From the very beginning the B. Ed. Department had 5 methods subjects to offer for the students. These were Bengali, English, History, Geography and Mathematics. After continues demand of the students, the Department was able to introduce 3 more method subjects for the benefit of it's students, these were Sanskrit, Education and Physical- Science. Now 8 method subjects (Pedagogy of School Subject) are offered to the student. Initially B. Ed. Course was of one-year duration but from 2015 (NCTE Amendment of 2014) it is now of two-year B. Ed. Course.
The B. Ed. Department of Gobardanga Hindu College is the only college under WBSU. The intake capacity of this Department is 100 with a highly qualified and equipped Faculty of 16 members. This Department makes the College proud by its result of 100℅ achievement of First Class every year.
