NSS

NSS or National Service Scheme, as we are aware is a government sector public service programme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Govt. Of India, functioning since 1969.

The two units of NSS of Gobardanga Hindu College have been extremely active and fulfilling social needs as per its principles. To refer to the more dynamic performances undertaken by NSS units of GHC, it is important to take into consideration the periods during and immediately after lockdowns. Programmes were organized in the rural and semi-urban localities jointly by teachers and students. Distribution of essential commodities to children was welcomed by the residents in the vicinities. Special cleanliness programmes in college campus were completed with the help from students. Various talks and seminars were organized sometimes in collaboration with other committees/Cells to the benefit of students and staff. A number of proposed programmes concerning adult literacy campaigns, plantation, cleanliness drives ensuring a plastic – free ambience and self- defence training prorammes (especially for female students) may be undertaken in the near future.
